Ida York opens for Call Me Spinster April 20 in her Sewanee home. Four years ago, sisters Amelia, Rachel and Rosalie Graber released an ep, Call Me Spinster. "Porchy holler hop" aptly describes their delightful vibe. Life lessons, courtesy of love and mothering, inform their new lp, Potholes. Yes, there is a proper vinyl pressing available, along with the cd release from Strolling Bones Records of Athens, Georgia, where they will perform 4.27 at the Normaltown Music Festival. Atlantans may catch their tour 4.28 at the Inman Park Festival. They then return to Chattanooga for a 5.3 appearance at Yellow Racket Records, before heading west for eleven more dates. Won't it be fun to welcome them home 6.29 at Barking Legs?

The campus of Sewanee: The University of the South
is fertile ground for individuality. Today's visit both
reminded me of this timeless look from September last
and gives us a bit of whimsy. His hat brim ornament is
a souvenir of Virginia and those shoes began life as
Foot Joy golfing cleats, before their outer soles departed,
leaving him with something unique indeed.
