Eurostyle in Northshore

While their Bakfiets Cargobike Long may be a rare sight in the US, it turns grocery shopping into a fine, father and son adventure.

Don't Give Up The Ship

For these new mothers there is no slippery slope into sweatpants. Their babys' outfits were chosen with equal care, the drowsy one sharing mom's taste for felt barrettes by Tobi Weldon.

Remarkable on Frazier Avenue

Her memorable sundress from Backstreet Betty's
brings to mind the wisdom of Coco Chanel:
"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different."

More Monochrome

Sometimes themes develop among the subjects. Her monchromatic layers chime with this morning's
black and white stripes.

That they unconsciously chose to wear stripes must be the result of good chemistry. Also of note: today marked the blog's 6000th visitor since February. Thanks to everyone who has appeared on The Chattanoogan and to those who enjoy your styles.

Some garments reward close inspection. So it was for this swing cardigan by Polici. A surprising, racy stripe, ruching detail and drop points that flared in motion kept this photographer busy. Sam Edelman sandals and an organic cotton shirt by Threads For Thought played supporting roles in her ensemble.

A Microcosm

"It's all about the stories," she told me. More a collector than a shopper, she prefers giving new life to friends' old clothing. Her accessories comprise a little United Nations. The belt was beaded by a blind woman in Chiapas, Mexico.

Casual Chic

Her kickin' cowgirl boots (despite the heat), his souvenir graphic from Thailand and a mutual choice of blue put this couple on The Chattanoogan. On their way to a tapas meal, they appear to be well informed from reading the pulse.

Knoxville Revisited

The Chattanoogan first visited Knoxville in April and returned most impressed by its finery. July's heat has made comfortable sundresses de rigueur. These two examples, geometric by Scrapbook and ethereal from Macy's, graced the city's Market Square and the terrace of a fashionable, West End restaurant.

Putting the rags in the rag trade is what Mo Lappin of New Orleans' Howlpop does best. Find one of your own at LEO Handmade Gallery.

Dates with Destiny

"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny." Coco Chanel

Plaids

"I know you're not supposed to mix plaids," he replied to my request for a photo. There's something delightfully subversive about his choice of Goorin Brothers hat over well-coordinated shirt and shorts from J.Crew and Munsingwear shoes.
